Well, we’re about a year in now since RCH’s inception. It was long overdue for me to start my own company, after many years of working in the family construction business, as well as for other builders. Tim Francis (long-time friend and colleague) and I previously ran a very successful business back in our home town of Dallas, TX., and we have had a great time planning, developing, and running Reardon Custom Homes.
Even though I always knew we’d be successful (I just love building too much for it not to work out), I feel very fortunate in today’s economy to have been involved in such great projects over the past year. I’ve enjoyed every part of it – working with such great clients, architects, subcontractors, and employees. And on top of it all, we get to work in a place as beautiful as Boulder, Colorado!
The past year has flown by, and we’re just getting revved up. We just hired two full time Project Managers, Dave Kilcrease and Jack Scott. We recently opened a Boulder office in addition to our Longmont location. We currently have four projects under construction and are bidding on new jobs. Over this next year, we are planning to be involved in some commercial and Design / Build projects in addition to our residential work.
Yes, it’s an exciting time for RCH – we’ve got our sights set high on the horizon, with our feet set firmly on the ground. We will strive to become one of the leading builders in the area, and will continue to provide uncompromising service to our customers. On any given day if you ask me how I’m doing, just like the title of this post says, I’ll probably tell you with a smile on my face… “Just Livin’ the Dream!”

This is a backyard renovation project off of Table Mesa near NCAR, designed by Lawrence and Gomez Architects. Merrittscapes deconstructed an existing deck / shed, as well as an old concrete patio. After bringing in structural fill and preparing the grade, Boulder Flatwork poured a new colored & stamped patio. Howard Davis Masonry built a sitting bench. Napp Landscaping re-shaped the back yard, complete with moss rocks and accent stone pavers & steps to the lower patio level.
Strong Framing built a new balcony / deck and a hot tub was installed. Tomorrow Quality Metal will install the deck cable rail, and Excel Electric will install landscape lighting.
This has been a fun project – especially playing with the family Golden Retrievers, Gracie and Jessie!

This is a remodel project designed by Juana Gomez that begins with deconstructing an existing back patio and an older roof-top deck leading to the Master Bedroom. The existing foundation will be saw cut to allow for a new walk-out door with sidelites.
Construction will include a new Garden Room with an updated roof-top deck, a new gable at the Master Bedroom, and an awning with powder coated steel supports with corrugated metal roofing. Sierra Pacific aluminum windows and doors will be installed. We will provide a new high efficiency boiler and hydronic heating. New updated finishes will be installed at the Basement and Garden Room levels.
We are set to begin framing this week. Once the structure is in place, we will pour an interior slab (to be stained) at the Garden Room floor and steps to the Basement level.
Here are some photos of progress thus far:
